Be Present

You may have been reminded of the importance of being present one or two times before, but not how to be present and when to be present. I will share the How and the When with you in this short blog.

Welcome back, friends, to the blog. It’s been a while, but your girl is now a FULL TIME LIFE COACH, and I am SO proud of this! You can now expect regular content designed to enrich your life and help you remove any and all mental blocks on your way to self-improvement.

Let’s talk about being present.

WHEN should you be present?

It is not possible for humans to be present all the time. Our beautifully complex minds are constantly thinking of the past, present, and future leading to brain fatigue, indecision fatigue, emotional fatigue, mental fatigue, and physical fatigue. When you feel overall fatigue, and your mind is racing with a million thoughts (psst! We think around 60+ thousand thoughts a day!), that is when you should STOP and apply the HOW in this blog to bringing yourself back to the present.

HOW should you attempt to become present?

Step 1: Put down your phone and mute the TV if you are around electronics. Take a deep breath and fill your lungs. Count till 8 and slowly exhale. Breathe again counting till 10 and slowly exhale. Do this as many times as you like. You can exhale through your nose or your mouth. Maybe try switching to see what feels better in your body.

Step 2: Become aware of any tension in your body. Relax your arms to the side. Put your head back if you can and allow your body to just lay still for a minute or two. Focus on your breathing and count out loud if you can.

Step 3: Put your hand on your heart and repeat after me: I am safe. I am okay. I am present. I am here. I am home/work/etc. I am safe. I am present. I am calm. I am breathing. I am present. I can continue forward. I am move forward. I am safe. I am here. I am alright.

Recap: Stop. Breath in and out. Relax your body. Say to yourself-I am safe. I am here. I am present.

The more you do this, the easier it will become for you to be present. Following this process will also increase your awareness to become present when you become lost in your thoughts and spiral down the rabbit hole in your mind.

Did you give it a try? Awesome! Comment below and let me know what you felt and how many times you breathed in and out. Comment and let me know where you were when you felt the need to “Be Present” and how long it took for you to become present.

What other resources would you like me to share with you? I’d love to create additional Resources to make self-improvement easier for you.

You got this!
