Need Help with Time Management?

Hey friends! Welcome back to the Blog! Welcome to February! We are going to learn ALL about Time Management Tools in the month of February, and I can’t wait to share all of it with you!

Today, let’s talk about the tell-tale signs that you need time management tools in your life. These signs point you to the direction of help with managing your time better. Recognizing that you need help with time management can involve self-reflection and an awareness of certain signs. Here are some indicators that you may need assistance with managing your time:

Here are a few signs:

If you find yourself always (99%) of the time putting things off and coming up with an endless number of excuses, you might have a procrastination problem. This is a sign that you need help managing your time because a big part of time management is managing your urges to procrastinate. The better you get at managing your time, the less you tend to procrastinate. It’s a process and you’ll be so glad you follow it through when you actually see the benefits of living a life without procrastination.

Work, personal, or school related, no late submissions feel good. If you are missing deadlines at work, you know that’s affecting your productivity and the bottom line of the company. That’s not a good thing for your professional and financial status. If you are missing doctor’s appointments, dates with friends, or arriving late to events, you are incurring late arrival fees, disappointing friends, making loved ones wait a long time and simply adding stress to your life. I don’t have to tell you how stressful it is to submit work late, for it not to be accepted and then your GPA affected. That’s the stuff of nightmares for any student ever anywhere! If you are aways late, you need to manage your time. Plane and simple. Nothing is worst than always submitting project lates or arriving to appointments late and having to deal with the aftermath of the lateness. Do yourself a favor and learn the tools of time management. Your nervous system deserves a break from this type of stress.

If you think you have SO much work to do, maybe it’s because you aren’t actually working when you are supposed to be working. It’s possible that your work isn’t the problem and that your inability to manage your time is at fault here. That is something only you can figure out after you take a long and hard look at your day to day routines at work and at home. Are you always catching up on projects? You need time management tools.

Feeling constantly overwhelmed or stressed due to a heavy workload or a sense of not having enough time can be a signal that you need assistance in organizing and prioritizing your tasks. Stress shows up in every area of our lives, but if you are lacking time management skills, it can cause a great deal of stress in your life. Stress is known to cause serious health issues including severe cases of depression and anxiety. If time management tools can help you in this area, you owe it to yourself to give yourself the gift of health.

If you find it challenging to stay focused on a task and frequently get distracted, it may be an indication that your time management strategies need adjustment. Of course there are other reasons for lack of focus such as the false belief that multi-tasking will help us get more done. The truth is that multi-tasking weakens the “focus” muscle in our brain. The more we focus, the stronger that muscle gets. Focus is also affected by buffering activities such as scrolling on social media, eating when not hungry, over-drinking, smoking, etc. Buffering is an entirely differently topic, but I do want to share here that we participate in buffering activities when we DON’T want to get our actual work done.

When I work with clients on time management skills, we work on buffering A LOT because folks who don’t manage their time well and participate in buffering activities are avoiding feelings certain feelings. (Yes! Everything always goes back to feeling our feelings!)

Recognizing these signs is the first step toward improving your time management skills. Seeking guidance from a mentor, coach, or utilizing resources like books, courses, or apps focused on time management can provide valuable insights and strategies to enhance your efficiency and productivity.
