Let’s boost your productivity: Blog Series 4 of 10

This is another short and sweet blog to keep things simple so you can apply them immediately to your life. Ready? Let’s go!
Reduce the scope of your task.
Large tasks can be intimidating to plan let alone tackle. But if you can understand the concept of breaking the big goal into small parts, you’ll have reduced the scope of each task to the point that it’s manageable. For example, if you have a home improvement project to accomplish, there are undoubtedly multiple steps until the end result. If you have an event to plan for work, the same concept applies. Procrastination takes a hold of us when we think of the entire elephant and are intimidated to approach it. But you know what they say about eating an elephant: you must do it one bit at a time. So, my friend, my advice for you is to: Reduce the scope of your task. Break it down into 3-5 parts or 7-10 parts if it’s a massive project. Schedule each part in the calendar. Once it’s scheduled, it must be completed. Around here, I teach my clients to honor their calendars, to honor their past selves, to trust in the planning wisdom of their past selves because she knew what she was doing when she planned each task. We call that learning to be accountable to ourselves, learning to build trust with our past selves, and trusting that the goal will be met once we complete each scheduled task.
