I am SO excited to share my favorite activity with you today: Journaling! I’ve got 5 Journal Prompts for you today to help you kick start your journey to overcome procrastination! You ready? Let’s GO!
1. Make a list if tasks/projects you keep putting off. Next to each one write the reason you are putting off starting or completing them.
This question helps you reflect on the patterns behind the habit of procrastination. It also helps unveil any fears or anxiety around the topic.
2. What am I feeling before I procrastinate on a task? Make a list of any feelings and emotions that come up.
This question helps you explore the impact of your feelings on your life.
3. What are 3 small steps I can take to start working on something I’ve been putting off?
This question helps you break down a task into small steps to make taking action more manageable and less stressful.
4. What do I truly believe about my habit of procrastination? What thoughts come to mind?
This question helps you identify and challenge thoughts that hold you back, such as “I’m not good enough”, “I’ll fail” or “what’s the point?”
5. What will my life look like when I overcome procrastination for good? (Notice how I didn’t say “would” and “if”. Changing the language you speak even to yourself inside a journal is important in how you mold your new mindset.)
This is a great question to visualize the impact ridding your life of procrastination would have on your overall wellbeing. This helps paint a picture of a possible future you are in control of and you can create. This also give you a solid WHY, a solid purpose behind your journey. Maybe you want to quit procrastinating on getting your degree and improving your income-changing yours and your families’ lives. Maybe you want to quit over-eating, over-drinking, over-gaming to build a healthier life and participate in memories with your family. Maybe you want to go out on more dates and improve your chances of meeting Mr. Right or Mrs. Always Right (LOL). Your dreams are yours. The clearer you paint your visit, the easier it will be to achieve.
