Change Requires Healing

Take the time to heal!

Hey friends! Welcome back to the blog!

Hi friends! Welcome to the last Monday in September of 2024! Here is what I want to share with you today:

Change Requires Healing-Slowly.

If you’ve been feeling sort of depleted, moving slower, or feel like you are in the “in between” space, you are simply adjusting to the change you are implementing in your life. No matter the type or size of change, our body, mind, and spirit take time to let the change settle in. You are growing. This is part of the growth process.

I remember when my girls were babies and toddlers, they would go through phases of excessive fatigue, hunger, and in need of rest. I learned that they were going through a growth spurt. Their little bodies were literally growing. When they were teething, they were growing. When they were learning to crawl or walk, they were growing. When they were learning to talk and learn new things, they were growing.

The same applies to you and me as adults. We are constantly growing and expanding in all directions (like the universe). We experience fatigue when we are learning new things and especially when we are learning to change our mindset. That work is tiring but so rewarding on the other side of it.

Here is some guidance for you if you are going through this:

What to DO:

  1. Become aware of this and be gentle and patient with yourself.
  2. Write your heart out. Rest. East and drink whatever feeds your body in the best of ways.
  3. Cry if you must. Sleep in you must. Move behind the scenes if you must. Cancel plans. Be with yourself. Give yourself permission to experience the growth process all the while being aware that this is a temporary phase and that you will come out of it. Honor your body’s need to rest. Listen to it. Eat when you are hungry. Stop with you are full. Drink when you are thirsty.
  4. Take off the pressures of the world as much as you possibly can. Enlist the help of a trusted human in your life who can be your partner in this growth journey. Someone you trust with your whole heart. Someone who knows you and will be gentle with you. You don’t need tough love in this moment. Tough love is for a different time. This moment is for healing.

What NOT to do:

  1. Don’t call yourself Lazy. You are not lazy.
  2. Don’t binge on social media, Netflix, shopping, alcohol, etc. Anything that you want to use to buffer the discomfort, stay away from it. You’ll heal much faster and go through this “fog” faster and transformed.
  3. Don’t fear this place. It’s not permanent. You will come out of it.
  4. Don’t hide from yourself and the world in this phase. This goes back to #2. Don’t buffer away your pain and hide behind the buffers.

A few examples of growth include getting a different job, moving, going back to school, getting married, having children, breaking up with someone (spouse, friend, relative), learning a new skill, learning new mindset tools to change our reality, retiring, experiencing the loss of a loved one or a pet, the realities of our environment/society/the world, and SO much more.

Change is invisible 50% of the time and visible 50% of the time. We need to heal from it in both cases.
