Let’s boost your productivity: Blog Series 5 of 10

This is perfect for the Fall Season! Are you Ready? Let’s go!
Shed the things that don’t serve us anymore!
As we begin Fall (officially Fall as of yesterday), I am encouraging you to look to nature for inspiration and shed the layers of life that have served you well and are no longer serving you.
Specifically, I want to encourage you to let go of things that no longer bring you joy but are a source of stress and might possibly hold negative energy.
WHAT to shed?
For example, I am letting go of old coffee cups, mugs, even those that were gifts but are worn out and have been used. I am letting go of clothes, socks, blankets, decorations, furniture, ART WORK my girls have brought home for years (after I take a picture of them), shoes, toys, basket, dishes, sweaters, spoons, ladles ( why do I have 4 ladles?), flip flops, yarn, jewelry, lotions, body sprays, notebooks, birthday cards, comforters, pillows, scarves, medicine, makeup, soaps did I say TOYS? lol
HOW to tackle this without losing your mind?
- Take 1 room, 1 corner, 1 box at a time.
- Put it on your calendar (15-20 minutes).
- Put on some music. Get a box and start shedding!
Sure, this is a simple process, but do you know what keeps you from taking the first step? Mind Drama! Here are some sentences your brain will throw your way:
- I need lunch first.
- Let me check with _______ before working on this.
- I should be selling this stuff on Facebook Market.
- Do you recycle this or throw it out? Do the research first.
- I’ll do it later.
- I need more than 15 minutes for this mess.
- It’s not gonna much difference.
- I have laundry to fold. I don’t have time for this!
on and on and on and on………….
You’ve got to come up with ways to combat these statements ahead of time. Here is how to do it.
- I’ll have lunch after I do this because it’s on my calendar and I honor my calendar.
- I’ll get rid of my things for now since ______ isn’t here now. (I don’t recommend throwing away another adult’s things. I am sure you have plenty of your own belongings that need shedding.)
- Facebook doesn’t need more things listed. That’ll take even more time and energy.
- Throw it away.
- Do it now because I scheduled to do it.
- Starting with 15 minutes will make a difference in this moment. 15 minutes are enough. I am starting with 15 minutes.
- It will make a difference. I choose to believe that what I do, no matter how small the scale, I make a difference. My work makes a difference.
- I have scheduled 15 minutes to clean out old dishes. Laundry has its own time and place. Right now, these 15 minutes belong to the dish, cups, mugs, glasses, etc.
When you have an answer for each mind drama, you GAIN POWER over the voice that keeps you from progressing forward.
I know I went overboard with the examples here, but I wanted to make sure I was detailed and give you plenty to think about if you, just like me and so many others, struggle with thoughts that stop you in your tracks and keep you from progress.
