Procrastination Myths and Mindset Shifts

Are you the kind of person who journals? Me too!

Hey friends! Welcome back to the blog!

I am SO excited to share my favorite activity with you today: Journaling! I’ve got 5 Journal Prompts for you today to help understand procrastination myths and shift your mindset to engage in productive behavior! You ready? Let’s GO!

1. What myths have I believed about procrastination, and how have they impacted my progress?

This question helps you reflect on the patterns behind the habit of procrastination. It also helps unveil any fears or anxiety around the topic.

2. What small action can I take today to prove that starting is more important than feeling motivated?

This question helps you explore smalls ways you can experience a win in your daily life.

3. What can I do differently this week to better manage my time and reduce stress?

This question helps you come up with different ways to solve for the problems that are caused by procrastination-stress and overwhelm. What can you do (no matter now small) to manage your time better and reduce stress this week? Maybe choose one area of your life and make a small change. No matter how small, you have to believe that it makes a difference in shifting your mindset to the right direction.

4. Have I ever thought, ‘It’s too late to start’? How has this limited me?

This question runs in the background of our minds daily, and unless we catch it and re-direct our minds, we are forever slaves to limiting beliefs. What thoughts are you thinking that are keeping you stuck, keeping you from moving forward and making a change in your life? What thoughts are hidden and pretend to be “facts”? How are they limiting you?

    5. What past success can I reflect on to remind myself of my ability to overcome obstacles?

This is a great question to reflection on when journaling. Your mind finds what you focus on. If you focus on negativity, your mind will find all the evidence in the world for it. If you focus on positivity, the same takes place. So why not focus on the positive? Now this is different than the the toxic positivity you may have heard of. Toxic positivity encourages you to think happy thoughts all the time. What I am suggesting is look into your past (in the beginning) for all the times you experienced a win and channel that energy into your current self to move forward.

When you are feeling stuck, it’s best to feel the feelings you are experiencing-such as dread. After you’ve processed your emotions, you can choose different thoughts.

Do you need help with this process? I’d love to coach you around this topic. As a life coach I love exploring new techniques that not only help me, but also serve my clients in best way possible. I hope you’ll give this a try and let me know how you’ve implemented it in your life.
